Surya Institute to prepare a number of students from several districts in Papua province to follow the Olympics in science or mathematics at national and international level.
Professor Yohanes Surya, the founder of the institute, said his company worked with local governments, World Vision International, Indonesia and the Nobel Institute.
“We want to prove, that the children of Papua who have been considered underdeveloped and has not left unharmed, it can do if trained. They have hope,” he said in Jakarta on Wednesday (30 / 9).
During a trip in order to introduce mathematical methods “top” of the developer it, Yohannes randomly select each of the five third-grade students and six elementary schools from Tolikara, and Lanijaya Wamena in Papua.
“We did not do the selection because it can not be selected. All the kids there on average have not mastered the math, and even high school students still have not mastered arithmetic fractions,” he explained.
Then, go Yohannes, the children were chosen will bring to Jakarta to attend an intensive learning mathematics in Surya Institute. For about 12 hours per day, the children not only learn mathematics, but also English, art and music.
Currently, three children of Tolikara had undergone training for about five months. They include Wemi Jikwa (12), Ali Kogoya (12), and Merlin Kogoya Enjelin Rosalina (9). (kompas)
