East West Center Graduate Degree Fellowship Program

scholarship master degreeIIEF in coorperation with the East-West Center is giving Master Degre Scholarship Program for individuals who are interested in joining the education and research program of University of Hawaii, Manoa to obtain their Masters Degree.
This scholarship is available for Masters Degree (24 months) and Doctorate Degree (48 months). Through this program, scholars will have the opportunity to join research projects in their field of studies such as economy, politics and security, environmental, population and health, education as well as development in Asia Pacific region. Furthermore, University of Hawaii, Manoa also offers to certify Master Degree programs in the fields of Leaership Study, International Cultural Study, Population Study and Resources Management Study.

General Requirement

  • Applicants have to be US citizen or US permanent resident holder or citizen of Asia Pacific region including Russia.
  • Applicants have to register themselves in one of the Masters Degree programs at University of Hawaii, Manoa or already registered as students of Master Degree at University of Hawaii, Mano.
  • Have minimum TOEFL (international) grade of 213 Computer-Based Testing/550 Paper Based Testing/ 79-80 Internet-Based Testing and GRE/GMAT (according to terms in each field of studies).
  • Applicants have to complete all requirements in order to gain the exhange visitor visa (J-visa).

Japan Provide 180 scholarships for Indonesian students

The Government of Japan provides scholarships to 180 students from Indonesia who meet the requirements.

“There are 180 scholarships for Indonesian students, the number that most lot as Southeast Asia,” said Ken Noguchi, Head of Education Section Embassy of Japan to Indonesia, in Jakarta, Saturday (3 / 10).

The scholarship program, he said, called Monbukagaskusho. For student or researcher training each month will receive 152,000 yen, for S1 students for 125,000 yen each month. Students and Young Leaders Program for 258,000 yen per month.

“There is also a scholarship from the University of recommendations Japan. Amount equal to the nominal government of Japan,” he said.

To get the scholarship, Indonesia’s students must registering  itself to the Embassy of Japan. “Completing the requirements and take the test. New scholarships may be awarded,” he said.

In addition there are also scholarships other financial aid such as tuition reductions ranging from 30 to 100 percent or any other material assistance such as bus tickets and so on.

Next Noguchi explained, there are also scholarships that can be proposed after arrival in Japan. 49 scholarships from Japanese Government and 131 local scholarships from private institutions. The number of scholarships will be accepted depending on the study will taken from the area.

“For scholars, the fund raised around 154,000 yen per month and for the master’s program receive 155,000 yen per month,” he said. (kompas)

UNESCO Publishes Guidelines for Sex Education

To overcome the fact that, UNESCO developed new guidelines entitled “International Guidelines on Sexuality Education”. Guidelines that explain, what is sex education and why it is important to say.

In the guidelines, the material must include the six concepts, namely the relationship of values; attitudes and skills; culture, society, and law; human development; sexual behavior; as well as reproductive and sexual health. Sex education itself is divided in age groups 5-8 years, 9-12 years, 12-15 years, and 15-18 to the top.

“At the present time, education becomes a powerful weapon to deal with matters relating to the issues important to prevent young children from the mistake of looking at sex,” says Mark Richmond, Director of the Division for the Coordination of UN Priorities Education and Coordinator of the Global HIV and AIDS Unesco.

“Based on the evidence, many young people who do not have access to knowledge that can help them get the right information so they can avoid the wrong action. These new guidelines are expected to overcome the gap,” said Mark.
