University of Diponegoro Semarang – Indonesia

History of Diponegoro University (Undip) started around the early 1950s the people of Central Java community in general and Semarang in particular, requires the presence of a university as higher education and teaching. This is to assist the government in handling and implementing development in all sectors. At that time, in the Province of Central Java and Yogyakarta have only the University of Gadjah Mada experience as a state university.

Number of high school graduates in the northern part of Central Java who want to continue higher education at the university increasing, but still very limited because of the university, so that not all graduates can be entry there. Recognizing the needs of higher education is increasingly urgent, and the Foundation was established with the University of Semarang Akte Notaris Soeprapto RM No. 59 dated 4 December 1956 as the first step in the establishment of a university with the name of the University of Semarang.
